Über die Party
3. February 2018 | Doors 23:00 h | Tickets €19
Flex Dance Music dons Hitmakerchinx and DJ Aaron "The Mix King" are both dancers and producers. Flex, an offshoot of dancehall & reggae dance styles, alternates elastic contortions and ballet-like fluidity with disjointed, "broken" movements and facial animations. In their CTM performance, Hitmakerchinx and DJ Aaron will both move between the decks and the dance floor, where they’ll also be supported by a collaborative force between flex pioneer hob dot and flex dance phenomenon Shellz.
The duo will take center stage at YAAM’s main floor, presented by Carhartt Work In Progress. They will be joined by Kingston, Jamaica avant-dancehall collective Equiknoxx Music in a performance featuring three core members: riddim producers Gavsborg & Time Cow and vocalist Shanique Marie. DJ and NO SHADE co-founder Hunni'd Jaws will expose roots in bass and grime but also introduce new outgrowths in the directions of hybrid techno, noise, and ambient.
Uganda’s Nyege Nyege Tapes, a Kampala-based label and festival showcasing outsider music from East & Central Africa and beyond, will bring the new project Nihiloxica, in which four percussionists, one live drum kit, and analogue synths investigate Buganda & Busogo drumming from novel and euphoric angles. UK MC and self-described tomboy/feminist/rebel/misfit Roxxxan will take her no-nonsense lyrics to grime-informed backdrops, and internet sensation Bad Gyal punctuates dancehall, reggaeton, and Atlanta-style textures with fresh, DIY musings in English, Spanish, and her native Catalan language.
Berlin community space and ongoing party series Hoe__mies take over one of the other floors at YAAM with their crew of female, non-binary, and trans artists that fight for better representation in the hip hop scene. Combining sounds from the 90s and 00s, hip hop, R&B, trap, baile funk, dancehall, reggaeton and more, Hoe_mies also welcome Hengameh Yaghoobifarah aka kos_mic q'andi, who fuses diasporas yearning with the nostalgia of MTV youth and current queer sounds. » mehr laden ...
