Nicole - I am an actress and have sung professionally for 23yrs - genres covered include rock, pop, folk, blues, countrry and most recently jazz. I also perform in burlesque cabaret at the Fringe Bar in Wgtn City. My training includes time spent in Massachusetts, U.S.A under Mary McDonald Klimek, David Stroud and Wendy Parr who are all American vocal coaches, also the Sydney Conservatorium concentrating on the Jo Estill Technique and American contemporary styles. Vocal inspirations include Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Lady Gaga and Lisa Fischer. My voice has been described as a smorgasbord of qualities from sultry dulcet tones right through to power Broadway style belts. I am also the founding member of the vocal quartet "The California Dreamers", who were flown to perform in Los Angeles last year for a private party.
Robert Keeton is a Victoria Grad classically trained pianist, singer/songwriter who specializes in improvisational jazz, citing Brad Mehldau, Elton John, Sting, Billy Joel as some of his many inspirations. He has spent 25yrs performing in the business and has played with some of the most popular big bands such as the "Benj Berryman Hiptet" and other local legends in New Zealand for stage as well as T.V. ie Roger Fox, Ali Harper, Wgtn Musical Theatre... Robert is a current member of the NZ Joe Cocker Tribute Show and swing band 'Phil and the 5 o'clock Shadows".
Together "Me-n-Bob" strip away to just piano and voice offering a compelling insight to the very pure vintage sound of jazz, swing and lounge from the prohibition era of the 20's, through to the swinging sixties and then twisting some contemporary numbers including originals into the repertoire with a jazz flare, much like Post-modern Jukebox.
