Eva Hesse war in den 1960ern eine aufstrebende Künstlerin, die in der New Yorker Kunstszene für Aufsehen sorgte. Im Gegensatz zu ihren damaligen Kollegen wie Andy Warhol oder Roy Lichtenstein ist sie jedoch nur wenigen ein Begriff. Hesse, die durch ihre fragilen Skulpturen aus wegwerfbaren Materialien wie Latex oder Polyester bekannt wurde, starb bereits im Alter von 34 Jahren. Der Dokumentarfilm zeichnet das Werk und das bewegte Leben der vergessenen Star-Künstlerin faszinierend nach.

Eva Hesse was an up-and-coming artist who attracted attention in the New York art scene during the 1960s. But in contrast to contemporaries such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, today she is not widely known. Hesse, who gained renown for her fragile sculptures made of disposable materials such as latex and polyester, died at the young age of thirty-four. This documentary offers a fascinating look at the work and turbulent life of this forgotten star.
