On St Bartholomew's Day many years ago a ship was saved from a fierce storm by putting into the bay of San Antonio and on this day each year afterwards the good people of San Antonio have celebrated the safe deliverance of the travellers.The day starts with a barrage of loud firecrackers at 8am. Chocolate drinks & pastries are served on the Plaza de España.
In the evening at 8pm there is a celebratory mass and procession. Afterwards there is a folk dancing display near the fountains . A funfair with rides and games, shooting gallery, food stalls, etc is set up along the promenade and throughout the evening there will be entertainment from live bands too. The celebrations end with a magnificent firework display at midnight.
