Bekannt für seine ausgetüftelten Produktionen, veröffentlichte er kürzlich die vielgelobte LP "What I Do" auf seinem Label Pooled Music, sowie die "Compurhythm EP" auf dem Berliner Label Innervisions.
IAN POOLEY macht wieder mal alles richtig. Jüngste Entdeckung: Baikal, deren erstes Release bereits durch die Innervisions-Crew gepusht wurde, die jetzt, da sie auf dem Geschmackspolizei-Label selbst veröffentlichen dürfen, über sich hinaus wachsen. Epische Märchenwald-Synthies, asymmetrische Basslines: UK-inspiriertes Differenzdenken, aus dem immer wieder diese feenhaften Shaker eine Fluchtlinie ziehen und eine neue Wendung einleiten. Einfach brillant. Da kommt weder der Dixon-Remix noch das Original von Pooley wirklich hinterher, obwohl es sich dabei ebenfalls um durchaus feine Stücke handelt.

Six years since he left his home in Mainz for Berlin, Pooley refuses to surrender
to the status quo. The ultimate purist. An enduring visionary. Ian Pooley is a rarity.
Twenty years into his professional career, he is regarded as both a cult underground
DJ and established mainstream producer. As one of the only artists that walk the
path between the two, his sound is as polished as the masters but his approach is
distinctively classic and fresh.
Five albums into his career, Pooley has scoured influences from around the globe
- Detroit, Chicago, Brazil, playing with funk and always maintaining an emphasis
on the groove. His first projects led him to explore dark, hypnotic beats, while his
later longplayers on V2 Records were praised for their take on Brazilian samba.
A chameleon of his time, Pooley expertise lies in forging new trends before
disappearing from the spotlight, only to re-emerge in a completely new direction.
2012 brought him back to the spotlight with a critically appraised release on
Innervisions and his fifth studio album is set to drop early 2013, ‘What I Do’, on his
own label Pooled Music. Delivering a collecting of tracks that connect firmly with the
dancefloor and glow with a timelessness not often found in modern day electronic
music.
Pooley’s vast collection of analog gear and wealth of experience result in a smooth
finesse and fearlessness to experiment with slow, hip-hop rhythms and stimulating
frequencies. Long four-year breaks split his album projects, like a patient teacher
waiting for his lesson to be pertinent, this stretch in time allowing him to move into his
next phase of evolution.
Pooley has ripened into an artist unable to be second-guessed and capable of
covering more musical territory than most can dream of trying in a lifetime.

Boot Slap nennt sich das Projekt von Christian und Takis, das elektronische Instrumentals mit Vocal-Parts verbindet. Während Christian Witt sich schon früh von Berlins fluoreszierender Clubszene faszinieren ließ und sich selbst an das Produzieren elektronischer Musik machte, liegen Takis Wurzeln vor allem im HipHop – von Graffiti und Breakdance kam er zum Songwriting und brachte sich selbst Keyboard, Gitarre und Schlagzeug spielen bei. Sein Debüt in der elektronischen Musik feierte er als Vocalist an der Seite von Siopis auf dem Track „Really Love Ya“, der auf Get Physical erschienen ist. Christian hingegen ist als Gründer des Labels Perplex Recordings sowie Co-Gründer von OFF Recordings und durch seine Tätigkeit als Remixer für Acts wie Anthony Rother oder Toby Dreher unter dem Pseudonym Charles Widmore bekannt. Gemeinsam bilden die beiden ein energiegeladenes Gespann, das zusammen mit Ian Pooley sicherlich für eine schweißtreibende Nacht im Tonstudio sorgen wird.

Christian Witt and the Get Physical regular, Takis team up to create a joint project titled Boot Slap.
A fascinating live act duo, their live set is a mix of live played electronic instruments like keyboards,
synths, percussions, and drums coupled with Takis’s soulful vocal treatments.
Christian discovered the muscular, loop based, dance floor electronics of Louis Burns, Daniel Bell, Moritz von Oswald in the mid ‘90s. Impressed and immediately fascinated by these sounds and by Berlin’s unique club-culture, including legendary clubs such as Planet, E-Werk, Ostgut, WMF and Bunker, Christian increasingly deepened his involvement in the scene. In 2008 he established his label „Perplex Recordings“ and co-founded „OFF Recording‘s“. He is also known as Charles Widmore who made his mark as a remixer, i.e. for Anthony Rother,
Mirco Violi, Mr. Statik and Toby Dreher.
Takis, however, driven by his greek roots contributed notably to hiphop culture - from graffiti and breakdance to songwriting as a self taught artist he acquired skills in playing the keyboard, various guitars and the drums. He made his debut in the electronic music scene as a vocalist along with Siopis on the track “Really Love Ya” and also sang on Smash TV‘s „I Need“, both released on Get Physical.
