Hellraiser Leipzig presents: Crisis (UK)

After almost 40 years, punk-rock originals Crisis, are back with a series of concerts in the UK, Europe and North America.
Crisis formed in 1976 in Guildford, UK, with the lineup of Phrazer, Lester Jones, Douglas Pearce, Tony Wakeford and Insect Robin the Cleaner. Their debut single, “No Town Hall” was released in
1978 on Action Group Records. After recording for BBC Radio 1 Peel Session and releasing a string of singles, the band underwent a major change in personnel: Phrazer and Insect Robin the
Cleaner were replaced by Dexter and Luke Rendle. However, the band broke up on May 10, 1980 after supporting Magazine and Bauhaus in their home town of Guildford.

Almost 40 years after the break up, the original bassist, Tony Wakeford, decided to rebuild the band and to start performing the iconic Crisis songs once again. He is now joined by Clive Giblin on
guitar, Lloyd James on vocals and Igor Olejar on drums.
After Crisis, the founding member, Tony Wakeford, worked as a composer of experimental and classical music with Orchestra Noir, and collaborated with Current93 and Nurse With Wound. Tony
is currently the primary force of the folk noir group Sol Invictus, where he works as the songwriter, vocalist and guitarist.
As veteran of the UK’s punk scene, Clive Giblin has performed in many bands, from The Sedated in the early days to most notably, Alternative TV (guitar, since 1987) and Sol Invictus (keyboards,
guitar and now occasional bass, on and off since 1994). He was also Tursa records recording engineer from 1993-1998. He formed Cradle with Terry Bickers (Levitation/House of Love) 1993
to 1995. He is currently the guitarist and composer for Two Worlds Collide, which over the years has included members of Cardiacs and The Wildhearts.
Lloyd James is the founding member and vocalist of post-punk-influenced group Naevus and also leads the experimental ensemble Retarder. He has also worked with Rose McDowall and is one half
of the duo Endless Endless.
Yugoslavian-born Canadian Igor Olejar is a multi-instrumentalist and producer for electronic artpop trio Autorotation. He has performed in punk and post-punk bands in Yugoslavia and Canada.
Crisis’s “songs to march to” once again resonate with the audiences, both old and new.
Their antifascist, anti-racist message is still very much relevant in the current Western political climate, as it was at the end of 1970s. With a number of concerts in the UK, Europe and North America, plus the upcoming release of a newly recorded live album, Crisis are bringing fresh energy to both the seasoned punk rockers and the new generation of fans.
Crisis’s re-animated life starts with the first concert in the band’s hometown of Guildford on October 13, 2017.
