Mansion :: 1st August w/ Hardsoul (Roog)
#MansionMondays a night of glam and decadence, dancing to the soundtrack of ..Hardsoul (ROOG).
Hardsoul/DJ ROOG has unquestionably been Holland’s premier house DJ for the last 15 years. ROOG has carved out his own brand of true house music since the mid-90s on the continent. With strong support for more than a decade and a half emanating from British shores from key labels such as Toolroom, CR2, Ministry, Hed Kandi and Defected, as well as solid backing from Radio 1’s legendary host Pete Tong, ROOG is now set to bring his own brand of cutting edge house music back to UK clubs and festivals.
ROOG comes from a musical family and was classically trained. Inspired by Amsterdam clubs such as the legendary Roxy and iT, he started making house music by founding Hardsoul in 1997. A debut release on Soulfuric Recordings was followed his first track on Defected Records. It was a smash - Back Together was a vocal anthem sung by Ron Carroll which captured hearts in the UK and became a summer anthem. This was the start of ROOG’s love affair with Britain, as the track enjoyed airplay on mainstream radio, and peaked in the UK Singles Chart, topped the Traxsource House chart and enjoyed support from the British jocks that matter, including most notably Pete Tong. This led to an international Defected In The House tour. ROOG’s Uber track on London’s Toolroom Records then saw him reach the next level. The single was named BBC Track Of The Week and was included on numerous international compilations. After garnering steady support through releases on his own Hardsoul Pressing imprint in the subsequent years, 2015 saw ROOG peak even higher in the UK. March of this year saw Pete Tong name Hardsoul & Dirty Freek’s Just Another Face as a Miami Music Week smash, with frequent R1 spins.
This new wave of ROOG’s productions has seen major interest for ROOG to fly to the UK for live DJ sets. His music has always been exceptionally well received on the British Isles (releases on numerous international compilations such as Hed Kandi, Defected In the House, Ministry of Sound and MN2S are testament to that). Indeed, MN2S requested ROOG mix their ‘10 Years Of Our House’ compilation in which was subsequently voted Compilation of the Month in UK’s M8 magazine. These good relations are blossoming right through to this year, with the new wave of productions that have seen his popularity rise, particularly with in the success of Hardsoul & Dirty Freek’s Just Another Face garnering such huge support from Tong and others (link)’. There is just something about ROOG’s infectious sound resonates with British audiences.
Put simply, ROOG has been Holland´s biggest house export for the last 15 years. A dedicated and passionate music lover, ROOG is unrivalled in his work ethic and quest for musical quality.
