For many people in the world, Szimpla Kert is an immediate association of the most vibrant collective of creative culture of Budapest and Hungary. This spot gives atrs, culture and creativity a chance to thrive and prosper, an opportunity to learn new ways of life, to be amazed by the products of these all, and in the same time relax and feel at home.

The people of Berlin are already familiar with what else belongs to the Szimpla rainbow. We are dedicated to good music, good and healthy food, unique, rare drinks, and of course the greatness of Berlin and Budapest, their people who keep us creative, productive and offer infinite amount of possibilities for synergy.

// ETHNOFIL //

High school kids with a great doze of creative potential, a bit of jazz, electronics and ethnic elements flavored by all-time improvisation. This is the rough chemical compound of Ethnofil from Budapest, Hungary. Winning the greatest talent competition (Talentometer) of their home country held by A38 ship, the band started touring with its first album (Fülön Csíp) in 2011.

Within a few years it has become part of the Hungarian underground scene playing regularly in clubs, small and medium festivals all across the country. Apart from regular shows, Ethnofil is known of its contemporary improvisational performances that involve live visuals (with Glowing Bulbs), contemporary dancers or silent movies.

After years of getting involved in the underground music scene of Budapest, the band has reached its final form in 2014, expanded by Fanni Zahár of SoulClap Budapest on flute and sax. Last year, the second album Kókuszmúzeum (Coconut Museum) has been released featuring guest musicians such as Marcell Gyányi (makrohang), Gábor Kovács (derTanz).

The band also had the pleasure to release a track together with one of the most popular contemporary poets/writers of Hungary, Lajos Parti Nagy.

On stage, Ethnofil is supported by Gábor Pribék’s creative live visuals that help the audience enter the unique universe of the performance where neither genres, nor traditional conventions can put barriers to the musical journey flowing across atmospheres and moods of the greatest versatility.

2. July - Saturday - 23:30 - Badehaus

// SAVERNE //

The eponymous debut album from electro-rocker trio Saverne is ready to drop on AM:PM Music.
The record navigates you to the meeting point of two worlds, mixing elements of various current electronic music sub-genres with a classic singer/songwriter aesthetic. The end result is the cumulative diary of a bunch of demos the crew worked on last year, and an intensive 3 month studio 'lock-in' they just came out of. Along with singer and songwriter Bence Kocsis, MC Gabor Csepai and DJ Daniel Szekacs, a collective of up-and-coming producers also contributed a selection of tracks to the album, amongst them Gabor Deutsch / Anorganik, Stanislav Bendarjevsky Stas MRBL Peter Koczak Mongoose, Daniel Kovago Laavalamp Monstaz. and Ferenc Stamusz Stamusic.
Quoting the likes of Justice, C2C, Flume, Glitch Mob, Stromae, Gorillaz, Jack White and Foreign Beggars as their main influences, the sound of Saverne is energetic & crunchy, keeping you in a bouncy mood throughout the album.

3. July - Sunday - Szimpla Farmers’ Market

The Farmers Market in Szimpla Kert has become a phenomenon in Budapest in its four years of operation. The market and its 40-45 sellers attract 1500-2000 customers every Sunday. Every seller at the market is a real first producer, who bring what they grew and made by their own hands week by week. But the market is not just a place for buying food, it's a real social meeting point with live music, children's programmes, workshops and community cooking. We provide you the top products and the atmosphere of the coolest market in Budapest, such as Hungarian mangalitza & venison sausages, honey, forest mushrooms, paprika, and a big cauldron of traditional Hungarian gulyás (goulash).
