Präsentiert, from Osaka, Japan, King Jam Sound is an international sound system showcasing the talent of members Pikkal, Steel-T, Miki Rooney and Haji. Pikkal founded King Jam in 1998 and played in Osaka clubs until he brought his ambition to New York in 2000. Soon after Pikkal' s arrival in New York he met Steel-T. Those two linked up with Skerrit from Bronx-based Ghetto Life crew just browsing in an electronics shop one day.
Skerrit invited the young Japanese sound to play alongside Ghetto Life at a dance in the Bronx. After its first performance King Jam got the Bronx stamp of approval. The two sounds and other Bronx sounds have come together to nice up that dancehall ever since. In 2004, King Jam grew when Miki Rooney and Haji joined the crew. In 2006, KJ split the team up to cover both sides of the Pacific, one team in Japan and one in the U.S.
King Jam entered the international sound clash arena in 2009, taking its first title at its first clash in Brooklyn, NY. King Jam took home a trophy from 3 out of its 4 subsequent clashes in Brooklyn & the Bronx.King Jam' s goal now is simple: international recognition as a Japan-born sound with world-class clash and juggling skills. These are the hardest working Japanese men in the biz, and their motivation is true love for reggae music.
